Consideration of Sustainable Manufacturing in Chinese Automobile Industry: Framework & Priorities

In order to safeguard the future of Chinese automobile industry, and maintain and strengthen its acceptance in Chinese community, it should be made a commitment to sustainability. The approaches to sustainability in Chinese automobile industry should comprise three aspects: nature conservation, production-related environmental protection and “5R” implementation which is considered as sustainable manufacturing in China. The “5R” implementation is including Reduce, Reuse, Remanufacture, Recycle and Recovery. The general framework and priorities of implementation of sustainable manufacturing in Chinese automobile industry are considered in this paper. The impetus of choosing a sustainable way for China and its challenges to automobile industry are addressed as well.
